Located in Vandalia, Illinois, the Historic National Road Interpretive Center tells the story of our nation's first national road that linked the newly formed states to the East Coast. Commissioned by Thomas Jefferson in 1806, the road connected the newly formed state capitals, and was designed to facilitate trade and immigration.
