Illinois Adventure visits the Lovejoy Homestead in Princeton, IL, which was the home of Owen Lovejoy. Because of Lovejoy's arrest in 1843 for harboring slaves, the home is one of the few known stops on the Underground Railroad. Lovejoy was a key figure in the abolitionist movement, and a friend and colleague of Abraham Lincoln. Starting out as an outspoken preacher against slavery, Lovejoy decided to move his fight to politics, first as an Illinois State Representative and later as a U.S. Representative.
